Project Overview

College Town Communities, a full-scale commercial developer and property management company out of Southeastern, PA, is a long-time partner of Quality Stone Veneer. They proudly offer a long list of high end, off campus student housing throughout the east coast, with the highest-quality accommodations for their student residents.

In fall of 2022, in partnership with M.A. Curcillo, College Town came to us with a new, multi-building student housing project named College Station 2, scheduled to be built in Willow Grove, PA, about 45 minutes north of Philadelphia.

A handful of College Town projects have used QSV’s Lambris products in past, and this project was planned no differently. The project was designed as a wood framed structure, calling for a brick exterior. However, the project was planned to accommodate a thin veneer façade, not a full depth, structural building brick.

Our Metropolitan Brick thin brick system was the ideal fit for the project, allowing for the look of a perfectly laid structural building brick, without the costly design changes and labor that would be required for a structural brick. Our popular color “Plymouth” was approved by ownership for the final design, and our crews were on site to begin installation later that year.

Metropolitan Brick allows the installer to easily lay perfect lines of thin brick, due to it’s varying size pieces with stepped offsets. A preset, 6 brick, pyramid style panel uniquely stacks across the wall in pattern, while preset corners provide the look of a full depth brick at outside corners of the building. A full line of matching Metropolitan Brick accessories are also available, adding accent detail at windows and openings, and at horizontal transitions.

In addition, we installed our Metropolitan Brick with a galvanized drip cap, drain mat, and MTI Wall Opening Weeps™ to create an inconspicuous open drainage space for moisture management behind the brick system.

This installation procedure ensures the exterior veneer meets and exceeds the new International Building Codes adopted across Pennsylvania and moist (A) climate zones of the US.
