Project Overview
The Lumeo Apartments in Charlotte, North Carolina houses an impressive array of on-site amenities, including a massive outdoor pool, a dedicated dog park, direct access to the light rail, outdoor recreational areas, inviting fire pits, and state-of-the-art fitness facilities.
Our involvement in this project began with a review of blueprints and initial project renderings in close collaboration with our valued clients. We worked alongside them to select a contemporary package of masonry designs from our product library. Post initial design meetings, were tasked with supplying and expertly installing our PA Lime Ohio Drystack Lambris on the project's exterior.
Given the project's location within the Moist (A) Climate Zone, as specified by the International Code Council, it was not only a desire but also a regulatory requirement to implement a drainage plane behind our product. To meet this requirement, we integrated our product with our patented Clip System™ installation, ensuring the creation of an open, free and clear 1/4-inch depth drainage plane between the building’s vapor barrier and the stone.

The Clip System doesn't just excel in providing the industry’s most superior drainage space; it offers a host of additional advantages. Notably, our Clip System installations significantly minimize the number of penetrations in the building envelope during stone installation. On average, only one Clip is used for every 1.5 square feet, which translates to a single penetration of the Weather-Resistive Barrier (WRB) with one screw per clip. In contrast, traditional mortar and wire lath systems entail a multitude of fasteners for wire lath attachment, necessitating many more perforations in the project's vapor barrier.
For added protection against water intrusion, we employed Quality Stone Veneer's innovative Rubber "Grommet" in the project. The Grommet, designed by our team in 2010, serves as a rubber washer that pairs seamlessly with the Clip Screw to create a secure seal. This is akin to the way self-tapping roofing screws with rubber washers ensure water-tightness when installing a metal roof, showcasing our commitment to quality and innovation in every aspect of our work.
